Frequently asked questions

No. The video is processed on your device by ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. The only download is the engine itself (about 32 MB from a public CDN, once per visit); your file never leaves your browser.

Fast copies the original video and audio without re-encoding, so it is quick and lossless, but the cut can only start on a keyframe and may begin a little earlier than chosen. Frame-accurate re-encodes to H.264/AAC MP4 and cuts exactly where you set it, but takes longer.

Not in Fast mode — the streams are copied unchanged. Frame-accurate mode re-encodes at high quality (CRF 20), which is visually close to the original.

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and most other common formats. Fast mode keeps your original format; Frame-accurate mode always outputs MP4.

Files up to 1 GB are accepted, but everything runs in your browser's memory, so very large or long videos may be slow or fail on phones and older computers.
