Frequently asked questions

Lines work best for code, lists and long documents. Words are ideal for prose, where a sentence changed slightly. Characters show the tiniest edits, like a typo or a changed digit.

Green text was added in the changed version and red, struck-through text was removed from the original. Unhighlighted text is the same in both.

In line mode it ignores spaces and tabs at the start and end of each line, so re-indented lines aren't reported as changes. Word mode always ignores differences in spacing between words.

There's no hard limit, but very large texts with many differences can take a while to compare. If a comparison takes longer than a few seconds it's stopped, and you'll be asked to try line mode or a smaller section.

No. The comparison runs in your browser, so confidential contracts, code and drafts never leave your device.
