Frequently asked questions

Yes. Conversions use your browser's built-in time zone database, which knows when each region switches clocks, so the offset is correct for the specific date you pick.

When clocks spring forward, an hour is skipped (for example 2:30 AM may not exist), and when they fall back an hour happens twice. We flag those times and use the nearest valid moment.

Every IANA time zone your browser supports — usually over 400, like America/New_York, Europe/London and Asia/Kolkata. Search by city or region name.

For everyday use they're the same time. UTC is the modern scientific standard; GMT is also the name of the UK's winter time zone, which switches to BST (UTC+1) in summer.
