Frequently asked questions

No. The video is processed on your device by ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. The only download is the engine itself (about 32 MB from a public CDN, once per visit); your file never leaves your browser.

MP3 plays everywhere. M4A (AAC) sounds the same at a smaller size and suits Apple devices. WAV is uncompressed for editing. Original copies the existing track with no quality loss and is the fastest.

192 kbps is a good default for music and speech. Choose 128 kbps for smaller voice recordings, or 320 kbps if you want the highest MP3 quality.

The first audio track is extracted. If the video has no audio at all, the tool tells you instead of creating an empty file.
